There are many new BOSSes around you (Are you afraid?). If you want to connect with target audience, you are firstly like to pay “something” such like reputation and advertising fee for pass. Unfortunately, you couldn’t reject to pay because of the increasing number of internet users who live in the internet world. Those people still ask Google or Yelp for which stores provide fantastic food and location are near by me even though they already stand in front of your restaurant. Moreover, you not only need to pay but also pay more than one BOSS since your traffic are from different platforms. Promoting your brand via several platform usually is costly, and consumes your marketing budget as a black hole.
Even the agency company is like Booking Holdings, a global leading agency company, it still pays above 4 billion dollars in advertising expense, sharing a third of their total Gross Profit, to keep their first position in search and customer’s impression. Those big agency companies have more complicated relationship ,coopetition, with each other in the ecosystem. Therefore, their ultimate objective definitely is disintermediation and become the first interface, the portal, in the whole customer's journey. Booking Holdings, Alibaba, Tencent, Amazon, Baidu, Expedia Group, Google, American Express, ebay, paypal and Facebook are currently or potentially representative companies for offering the service of hotel reservation.
Conversely, for small and medium business, I suggest to implement the strategy of encircling the Cities from the Rural Areas with new partners(laughing) and focus on building reputation, doing reintermediation.
There are three reasons, reaching new audience, being a key part of certain scenario, cost-effective budget.

For example, Old Country Buffet, a domestic chain restaurants in USA. Rather than distributing the marketing budget to Yelp or Google, I suggest them to put money in Uber Eat, Amazon, mobile in-app video advertising platform such as Adcolony and Vungle. The reasons include not only cooperating with new platform brings the high ratio of price–performance for investment but also make Old Country Buffet more valuable in new system.
Scenario
The gamers are playing the mobile game, and it is difficult to leave even though they are hungry. At the same time, if screen pops out the food delivery advertising, they might click to place the order directly since it helps reduce the time for searching and checking which restaurant offers delivery service. Also, the parents of double-paying family could use their Amazon account to order the variety of nutritious and delicious dishes for whole family’s demands before they leave office instead using fast food drive thru near me.

Why don’t I recommend them to use Yelp and Google?
The first reason, Old Country Buffet does not have it’s own delivery service now. Providing this service by themselve costs a lot of money but now they could leverage the platform resource.
The second reason, there are many homogeneous competitors in these platforms, so it will become capital games, especially, in the some scenario which people have available time for searching the restaurant. Bidding keywords and put promotion AD on the top are expensive. Hence, we need to find certain scenario which put us with few competitors in, and it is creative and brainstorming game. You have chance!
The final reason, the first mover advantage in new platform still work effectively. However, for Yelp and Google, you are so late.
